Incredible! Can just look at you all day!
Portia’s first Sunday at home. I have had this fear of the lack of sleep, and the utter confusion that happens with a new born at home, the incessant crying and the feeling of helplessness at being unable to do something that would help her not cry, but Portia has so far turned out to be the most content baby in the world.
She gurgles, makes little squeaky noises and otherwise spent most of the last two days sleeping. Feeding has been about every 2 – 3 hours, and you can see she has been putting a lot of effort in – doing some research I have learned that this is because the first 48 hours or so, the breasts do not actually provide milk, but rather a very protein rich brew called colostrum. This is in a very small volume, as Portia’s tummy is only the size of a pea at the moment.
She is the cutest most humbling little being that I have ever seen. It is quite amazing the emotion that happens when one just looks at her, in complete child like wonderment…
