Portia doing her Neanderthal Baby Impression

Portia doing her Neanderthal Baby Impression

Monday June 1, Portia’s first new month!  Don’t really know what we did today, other than look at each other and look at Portia.  She is so quiet and content, she has not even cried once – except when she had a wet diaper, and that was really easy to diagnose, even for this very inexperienced father.

New-borns are so incredibly tiny, I remember buying the size “N” diapers while we were preparing for her arrival and thinking to myself that there is no way you can be that small to use those. Well, looking at the picture, you can see just how small she is.

One of our favourite moments with her, is directly after she had fed, we would sit her upright (something she does not want to do, because all she wants to do with a full tummy is sleep), and tap her on her back, to encourage her to have a burb, so that she does not get gas into her tummy.  When doing this, she puts on the cutest face, which we have dubbed, Neanderthal Baby…
